In this article we discuss mailing types, which determine how mailing selects users and engages subscription rules.
There are five mailing types, and every mailing must be associated with at least one of them. The mailing type establishes rules of how users are selected, and whether category-based subscription is engaged (global subscription rules are always engaged):
- Mailing with adhoc user selection - users are as selected per mailing. Category-based subscription is ignored.
- Subscription-based mailing / global email template - users are selected by categories, which are associated with the mailing. Category of email template is ignored. Category-based subscription is engaged.
- Subscription-based mailing / category-specific template - users are selected by category of the specified email template. Category-based subscription is engaged.
- Mailing with adhoc user selection / global email template - users are selected by mailing and filtered as subscribers for categories associated with the mailing. Category-based subscription is engaged.
- Mailing with adhoc user selection / category-specific template - users are selected by mailing, and filtered as subscribers for the category of the selected template. Category-based subscription is engaged.
